07.06.2023 um 00:38 Uhr von Mike AlexAs a civil servant, I note that the devotion with which Her Late Majesty The Queen has taken on and carried out "the top job" is inspiring beyond words. The mere fact that She served Her country and Her people twice as long as any civil servant normally serves Her is merely a hint at this.
As we read the comments and condolences, here and elsewhere, it appears that the public does not even expect of others what She has continuously delivered over a time span which is "forever" to most of us. If that is not greatness, what is?
Time will evaluate, and history will ultimately hand down its judgment. I, for one, wouldn't want to exclude that Elizabeth the Second shall be known as
Elizabeth the Great
And as a son who has also lost a parent recently, I would like to convey my sincerest condolences to His Majesty The King, and all members of The Royal Family. I have learned that the intense feeling of loss does not become less intense with time. But there is a point in time when it will be overtaken by gratefulness.
